In about 2 weeks America will be celebrating a holiday we call Thanksgiving. There will be lots of food and love ones gathered together for this special occasion. Some will. be off work for this day and possibly the day afterwards. Excitement grows as the Thanksgiving holiday nears. Some may be even watching their favorite football team play on this day.
With all the holiday hustle and bustle, I have a question to ask?
Do we really know the meaning of Thanksgiving?
See it's not all about the food, watching your favorite football team play or whatever is planned for this day.
It is a time of gratitude for the blessings that Father God has bestowed upon us.
Thanksgiving for the believer in Christ is not limited to just one day. Thanksgiving is everyday unto the Lord. But since this day was curved out to celebrate, let's show God how much we thank Him for life, health, strength, family and provision (food).
The scripture tells us to magnify the Lord with thanksgiving:
Psalm 69:30
I will praise the name of God with a song, and will magnify him with thanksgiving.
The Word of God also says,
Psalm 136
O give thanks unto the Lord; for he is good: for his mercy endureth for ever.
We must thank him for all that He has done and continue to do in our lives and on our behalf. God is GOOD!
If God allows us to see this holiday, for tomorrow is not promised. Thank him for it.
When we get ready to pick up items to cook. Give thanks unto the Lord for the provision (money) to purchase them.
Say: Blessed be the Lord, who daily loadeth us with benefits, even the God of our salvation. Selah. Psalm 68:19
And when we gather with love ones: Let us come before his presence with thanksgiving, and make a joyful noise unto him with psalms.
This is showing Thanksgiving unto God for being our provider. For He continues daily to load us with benefits.
Having hearts of gratitude and thankfulness unto Father God is the true meaning of Thanksgiving.
I pray for each one that is reading this blog, to have a blessed Thanksgiving Holiday as you give thanks unto the Lord for His goodness.
Peace and Love
