Rightly Teaching The Word

As Apostles, Prophets, Evangelists, Pastors, Teachers and Witnesses/Believers of Christ, when spreading the Gospel/Word there are three things we must do:

1. Study

2. Observe: Be Doers of the Word

   “But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves.”

   ‭‭James‬ ‭1‬:‭22‬ ‭

3. Then we can teach it to others

Ezra & Paul tells us about this very thing.

“For Ezra had prepared his heart to seek the law of the LORD, and to do it, and to teach in Israel statutes and judgments.”

‭‭Ezra‬ ‭7‬:‭10‬

Ezra Studied, Applied it, and then he taught it to the Israelites. He made sure he understood it first. Then followed God’s commandments and lastly went forth to spread the Word.

Paul mentored Timothy in the same way and in more depth as to what can happen when we go a fleshly route of teaching.

“Of these things put them in remembrance, charging them before the Lord that they strive not about words to no profit, but to the subverting of the hearers. Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. But shun profane and vain babblings: for they will increase unto more ungodliness.”

‭‭2 Timothy‬ ‭2‬:‭14‬-‭16‬

Those that do these things err in the truth of the Word. Teaching things of the flesh as Paul warned concerning a select few.

“And their word will eat as doth a canker: of whom is Hymenæus and Philetus; who concerning the truth have erred, saying that the resurrection is past already; and overthrow the faith of some.”

‭‭2 Timothy‬ ‭2‬:‭17‬-‭18‬ ‭

We as hearers must also study the word so that we too cannot get caught in vain traps of the enemy.

This is how manipulation is wrought among us; by not studying the Word for ourselves.

Again Study, Be a Doer of the Word and then we can teach it unto others in Truth and not on our own accord.
