Have you ever had one of those moments when you ponder on something and then new revelation comes to you concerning it. You are like whoaaaa wait a minute!!!
Well that happened to me today as I was thinking on forgiveness. The scripture popped in my head concerning Jesus on the cross. As I was speaking the scripture in my mind. A new revelation came concerning the text. I was like whoaaa wait a minute!!!
This is what God revealed.
“The Intercession of Jesus on the Cross”
Luke 23:34
34 Then said Jesus, Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do.
This verse has more meaning than just addressing the ignorance of them not knowing whom Jesus is. But to the point of what Jesus does?
What Jesus is doing here is called Intercede. He is advocating to the Father on the people’s behalf. Even at the point of death. Jesus is still interceding. Pleading the case of the people unto God.
Luke 22:31-32 is an example of Jesus intercession on the disciple behalf.
31 “Simon, Simon, Satan has asked to sift all of you as wheat. 32 But I have prayed for you, Simon, that your faith may not fail. And when you have turned back, strengthen your brothers.”
Jesus pleaded the case for Simon even knowing that he would deny him three times. Jesus Forgave Peter. Then told Simon Peter when you get the understanding go and show the other disciples.
The phrase: Father forgive them for they know not what they do is basically saying Father you know who I am and why you sent me, remember the why is to reconcile them back to you Father so forgive them for their understanding is not there yet.
Jesus Christ is still Interceding on our behalf today.
Romans 8:34
Who is he that condemneth? It is Christ that died, yea rather, that is risen again, who is even at the right hand of God, who also maketh intercession for us.
I pray that this has enlighten and encourage you hearts on today🙏🏽
God Bless
