The Reason 4 The Season

Lights glistening, stocking hanging, trees sparkling, and presents being wrapped. Waiting for that special and merry day "Christmas". So special the day when hearts are warmed with the gift of giving. Children can't wait to get up in the morning for being told that Santa will bring them presents and families come together to celebrate with feasts of all kinds of food and desserts.

Oh what joy do this special day bring to so many. This day is celebrated in so many ways around the world. Everyone has a different reason for celebrating, but for the believer the reason is the birth of Jesus Christ. Even though the bible doesn't mention the word Christmas or even that this day is Jesus' birth date. It was chosen long ago to celebrate our Savior's birth on this day.

The bible gives an account of the birth of Jesus to this wise: For unto us a child is born, and unto to us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace. Isaiah 9:6

There is another account to this wise: Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us. Matthew 1:23

Oh what joy divine! There is more! In Luke chapter 2:8-11,13-14,

there were certain shepherds abiding in the field watching over their sheep at night. An angel appeared to them which showed the glory of God and the shepherds were afraid. The angel said unto them Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people.

For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, which is Christ the Lord.

Then appeared more angels with the first praising God saying, Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men.

Yes Glory to God in the highest for sending a Savior to redeem man from Satan's power as the song say!

God rest ye merry gentlemen

Let nothing you dismay

Remember Christ our Savior

Was born on Christmas Day

To save us all from Satan's pow'r

When we were gone astray

Oh tidings of comfort and joy

Comfort and joy

Oh tidings of comfort and joy

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

God bless
