Shepherd’s Staff

38 Saul had his own military clothes and armor put on David, and he gave David a bronze helmet to wear. 39 David strapped on a sword and tried to walk around, but he was not used to wearing those things.

“I can't move with all this stuff on,” David said. “I'm just not used to it.”

David took off the armor and picked up his shepherd's stick. He went out to a stream and picked up five smooth rocks and put them in his leather bag. Then with his sling in his hand, he went straight toward Goliath.

— ‭‭1 Samuel‬ ‭17‬:‭40‬‬ CEV

““Do you think I'm a dog?” Goliath asked. “Is that why you've come after me with a stick?” He cursed David in the name of the Philistine gods”

— ‭‭1 Samuel‬ ‭17‬:‭43‬‬ CEV

In reading this break down version. God highlighted something to me in the battle between David & Goliath.

When David went forth to fight Goliath, he took that armor off and picked up his SHEPHERD’S STAFF, five smooth stones and he had his sling.

As he walked toward Goliath, the soldier looked at David and said Do you think that I am a dog? Is that why you have come after me with a stick?

Goliath was distracted by what he thought was the weapon David was using to fight him with, the SHEPHERD’s STAFF!

God strategically placed that Staff in David’s hand which made Goliath put his guard down. He thought the fight was over before it began.

I can imagine David running with Staff in hand dropping it and pulling out the sling and stone which Goliath didn’t see coming. Then bam Goliath was down before he knew it.

In our troubles, when Satan comes to defy the things of God within us and the church of the Living God.

We must stand our ground and do as instructed by God.

The weapons of our warfare are not carnal (guns, fists and even an untamed mouth). But God will show us how to win the battle just as he did David. “But mighty through God to the pulling down of strongholds.” (Goliath)

Satan will think that we are coming one way (complaining and murmuring) but we can create a diversion and hit him another way by (Prayer, Praise

and Thanksgiving).

David’s distraction for Goliath was the SHEPHERD’S STAFF.

For the Believer in Christ is to turn our complaints into Praise and Worship.

I pray that this word encouraged you🙏🏽🙏🏽

God bless
