The topic that we are about to discuss is a sensitive subject to many called “Correction.”

The act of correction is: a bringing into conformity with a standard

This standard is a correct way of seeing and doing things.

The Bible calls it rebuke or reproof.

It is not to tear one down.

Meaning and Purpose (Google)

• An Act of Love: Biblical correction is not meant to tear someone down. Proverbs 27:5 states, "Better an open reprimand than concealed love," meaning honest feedback shows genuine care for a person's character.

  
  

• A Sign of Wisdom: Proverbs 9:8 notes that a wise person loves correction, while a fool rejects it.

  
  

• Spiritual Growth: God uses discipline and reproof to train believers, much like a loving father corrects his children (Hebrews 12:5).

An example of this is in Galatians chapter 2

The Apostle Paul corrected Peter for a certain action he did that cause others to error as well.

11But when Peter was come to Antioch, I withstood him to the face, because he was to be blamed.

12For before that certain came from James, he did eat with the Gentiles: but when they were come, he withdrew and separated himself, fearing them which were of the circumcision.

13And the other Jews dissembled likewise with him; insomuch that Barnabas also was carried away with their dissimulation.

14But when I saw that they walked not uprightly according to the truth of the gospel, I said unto Peter before them all, If thou, being a Jew, livest after the manner of Gentiles, and not as do the Jews, why compellest thou the Gentiles to live as do the Jews? KJV

We have to understand that our actions affects not only us but others that are watching us.

So we must not take it to heart when being corrected/disciplined.

The writer of Hebrews said it best.

God corrects those whom he loves. The KJV calls it “Chastise”

“But you have forgotten that the Scriptures say to God's children, “When the Lord punishes you, don't make light of it, and when he corrects you, don't be discouraged.

The Lord corrects the people he loves and disciplines those he calls his own.” Be patient when you are being corrected!

This is how God treats his children. Don't all parents correct their children? God corrects all his children, and if he doesn't correct you, then you don't really belong to him.

Our earthly fathers correct us, and we still respect them. Isn't it even better to be given true life by letting our spiritual Father correct us? Our human fathers correct us for a short time, and they do it as they think best.

But God corrects us for our own good, because he wants us to be holy, as he is. It is never fun to be corrected. In fact, at the time it is always painful. But if we learn to obey by being corrected, we will do right and live at peace.”

Let us remember when God sends correction through someone; we must take heed to the chastisement. It is for our good. Not to tear down as stated above, but in love. God sees the motives of all.
