2 Kings 4:8-37
There is a story in the Old Testament of Shunammite Woman and her husband. When Elisha the prophet would come to Shunem she would offer him to come into the house to eat bread. Seeing that he was a Man of God she asked her husband that they would make a place for him and his servant to rest when he passes by.
Elisha passed by one day and turned into the chamber of the Shunammite and wanted to do something for her because she had been so kind to them. He asked Gehazi to ask her what she needed or wanted and she said “paraphrasing” nothing. He asked again and Gehazi said they have no child.
Elisha proceeded to tell her that they will have a son and she asked him not to lie unto her but it happened as the Man of God said. But as the child grew he went out among the field as the Bible says the reapers and fell ill by the head. Later he died while his mother was holding him.
The Shunammite woman went to her husband to ask if she could go to the man of God for this matter. He says to her today it’s not the sabbath or the new moon? Her reply to him was IT SHALL BE WELL! She saddle up and went.
Stick with me I am going somewhere with this.
Seeing her afar off Elisha sent Gehazi his servant to see if everything was alright with her, her husband and child. Knowing her situation of the child she still replied IT IS WELL! When she got to the man of God who promised her the child she told him of her plight with the child that he has died.
Elisha then sent Gehazi with his staff to lay on the child but it didn’t work.
The Shuanmmite told Elisha I am not leaving you. Elisha then went in and prayed, followed the instructions of God of whatever he told him to do concerning the child and the child was restored back to life and presented to his mother.
When we are faced with impossible situations in life. Like that of the Shunammite Woman, our response should be as hers was IT IS WELL. Even when others don’t understand like her husband. We should reply to them IT SHALL BE WELL!
No matter what it looks like, we should hold fast that God has it under control and He and only He can raise what seem to be a dead situation. Even when it seems that life has dealt you a bad hand. Reply It IS WELL and pray unto God. Tell Him I am not leaving you as she did unto Elisha. Look at the outcome of her circumstance. Her son was restored back unto her because she did not give up. It is our faith that determines the out come of things in life. Trust God and know that IT IS WELL!
God Bless
