Duty As A Disciple

Updated: Jul 7, 2023

Matthew 10:1

10:1 And when He had called unto Him His twelve disciples, He gave them power against unclean spirits, to cast them out, and to heal all manner of sickness and all manner disease.

Disciple: a follower or student of a teacher, leader, or philosopher

Jesus came in to the world to save the lost, but to reach more than a few He needed more than Himself.

So He handpicked twelve individuals called them apostles and gave them power to make other disciples. They had power to cast out demonic spirits and gifts of healing for the nations. They went about from region to region and coast to coast to do the work of the Lord.

Even still the work is great and so many people need to be healed, set free, and delivered.

Matthew chapter 9:35-38 tells us that

Jesus was going about all the cities and villages teaching, preaching and healing sickness and disease among the people.

But when He saw the multitudes, he was moved with compassion on them, because they fainted, and were scattered abroad, as sheep having no shepherd. Then saith He unto His disciples, The harvest truly is plenteous, but the laborers are few; Pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that He will send forth laborers into His harvest.

Listen, there is much work to be done as children of God. We may go to church services among ourselves, but the harvest is on the outside. Jesus and the disciples went around healing the sick and casting out spirits. Jesus taught in their synagogues, but He did not stay in one spot.

Lord God needed more disciples on deck. He did not choose us for just for any reason.

There is a desirous need for His people to make other disciples to help in the kingdom of God. People are sick, lost, weary and scattered.

The disciples that Jesus chose did not wait around but did according as they were instructed.

He sent them and they went into the harvest to set captives free ( mindset freedom), heal the sick and to deliver those that were in bondage of demonic spirits. Matthew 10:1, 7-8

We are not to worry about provisions and things like that. God will provide what ever resource needed for that particular situation. We must just GO! Matthew 10:9-10

Our duty as disciples of Christ is to do the will of Father God. He sent Jesus to prepare us and gave power to us for the work (Holy Ghost). It is the Holy Ghost that worketh in us to cast out demons, heal the sick, raise the dead and so forth. No power of our own to do this work in the earth as disciples.

Acts 1:8 But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth. (Discipling)

We have work to do saints! As a follower of Christ we must do as He did. He have commissioned us to Go!

Matthew 28:19

Therefore, go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.

Let's go out unto the uttermost parts of the earth and bring in the harvest! (Disciples)

God Bless,
